The Night Bus

It was around 6:00 PM. As the sun set across the Sydney Skyline, I finished packing my bags for a long weekend in Melbourne. Flights for this particular weekend were extremely expensive, but more on that later. I was still excited to be headed south to Victoria. After packing my things and saying a quick goodbye, I showered and headed out the door. The night was warm and I assumed Melbourne would be comfortable. I left my jacket in my room and stepped out into the autumn dusk.
After a 15 minute walk, I got to Central Station and loaded my things onto the Greyhound Bus. It would be the most consistent form of transportation I saw for the rest of the weekend. While the final guests piled on, I checked my watch.
“7PM Departure from Central Station,” the driver announced, as he shut the doors.
“Right on time,” I thought as the bus sped off to Melbourne.
